Butternut Valley is a brand new local government in southern New Brunswick. Established on Jan. 1, 2023, Butternut Valley Rural Community was created as part of the province-wide Local Governance Reform, and is one of six new local governments in the province that were born by uniting Local Service Districts (LSD). Butternut Valley has united the four former LSD’s of Havelock, Johnston, Brunswick and Studholm.
Provide quality municipal services to build a united and sustainable community.
A united, welcoming, and prosperous rural community.

The Butternut Valley Rural Community Regular Council meetings take place on the second Thursday of the month. We have modified schedules for holidays and during the summer months, it’s best to check the event section of our website to make sure you have the right date and time.
Committee of the Whole meetings are held before the Council meeting.
We are pleased to welcome residents and visitors to our permanent home at the Municipal Building, located at 2002 Route 885 in Havelock, NB. Council meetings and municipal services are now offered from this location, and we look forward to serving our community from this new space.
